Am I Eligible ?

Am I Eligible for Ryan White Part A Services?

To receive services you will need to provide documentation that confirms your HIV status, your residency in Nassau or Suffolk County, your income and your health insurance status.  If you are accessing services for the very first time, you will have 20 business days from the day of the request to provide all documentation.

HIV Status

Proof of HIV status is only required once. While you will be asked only once to provide proof of status, you may be asked to provide updated lab reports as part of your medical update.

Residency in Nassau or Suffolk County

Ryan White funds that are designated for Long Island are to be used to provide services to its residents. To receive Ryan White Part A services you must show proof that you are a resident of Nassau or Suffolk Counties.

Income

If you make 500% of the Federal Poverty Level or less (which amounts to $78,250 in 2025 for 1 individual, with the income limit increasing based on household members) you meet the income requirements for Ryan White Part A services.  If applicable, documentation of current income must also be submitted for each member of your household.

Health Insurance

Ryan White Part A funds are considered payer of last resort which means Part A funds cannot be used to provide services that are reimbursable under any other program, (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, or ADAP). If you have insurance, you will need to provide a copy of your current health insurance to your provider. If you do not have insurance, all Part A providers are expected to help coordinate your benefits and ensure that you have access to programs for which you are eligible.

Veteran’s Exception to Client Eligibility

Note: If you are a veteran, you will not be denied services based on the client eligibility requirements. Providers will ask for you to provide valid proof of military service to include in your file for this exception.
